Actuator Fault Tolerant Control of Variable Cycle Engine Using Sliding Mode Control Scheme

This paper presents a fault tolerant control (FTC) design for the actuator faults in variable cycle engine (VCE). Ensured by multiple geometries structure of VCE, is realized distributing effort among unfaulty actuators with “functional redundancy” idea. The FTC consists two parts: reconstruction part and part, which use sliding mode observer (SMO) (SMC) scheme respectively. Considering inaccuracy result, proposed requires only inaccurate information. stability closed-loop system proved existence condition law analyzed. work also reveals its relation to allocation adaptive SMC design. An application case then studied tolerating loss effectiveness nozzle area actuator. Results show that able tolerate achieves same goal as fault-free situation. Finally, hardware-in-the-loop test carried out verify real-time distributed system, demonstrates from engineering perspective.
